Family Friendly Accommodation In Sunshine Coast and North Queensland

Top 6 Family Friendly Holiday Accommodation in Sunshine Coast and North Queensland

In my last blog I shared all our family friendly holiday accommodation spots for the Gold Coast and SE Queensland. Well, now we head north. The Sunshine Coast all the way up to the Whitsundays is some of the most beautiful coastline you will ever see. It’s where rainforests meet the ocean and the Great Barrier Reef shines.

We’ve been fortunate enough to spend many family holidays along the northern coastline of Queensland. There are too many places to mention in one sitting, but we’ve narrowed down our top 6 family friendly holiday accommodation spots along the Sunshine Coast and North Queensland. Noosa is by far one of the most popular holiday destinations along the Sunshine Coast and it’s where we kick off our accommodation guide.

Located in the heart of Noosaville, RACV Noosa Resort is gorgeous. The first thing you will notice is the stunning resort style pools with water slides for the kids and spas for the adults. If you want nothing more out of your holiday than to laze by the pool, then this is the place. Of course if you are a little more adventurous than that, there is bush walking, horse riding and 4×4 drives across at Fraser Island to keep you busy. As for the accommodation, no expense spared here with one, two and three bedroom luxury apartments on offer. Want your own pool or roof top spa, no worries… just book it right here!

In the heart of the Sunshine Coast is the Novotel Twin Waters Resort. And, you guessed it, has a kids club! Kidz Cove is perfect if you need a little R&R yourself or you are at Twin Waters for a wedding or event as they will act as that fun babysitter you always wanted! Aside from the kids club, Twin Water resort has it’s own lagoon with water activities including slides and bouncing balls for hours of fun. The accommodation is everything you expect from the Novotel name with modern, stylish suites and apartments to make your family friendly holiday really hit the mark.

Just down the road from the Sunshine Coast is Oaks Oasis Resort which has been ranked in the top 10 family resorts in Australia by Holidays With Kids, so you know it will fit the bill when it comes to keeping everyone happy.  The accommodation is newly refurbished so it is bright and fresh with modern decor and apartments accommodate up to 3 bedrooms, catering for even the largest of families. With activities including a water park (a must isn’t it!), 18 hole mini golf course, lagoon pool, spa and even a kangaroo jumping pillow, there is something for everyone.

If you’re after pristine beaches with white sand and clear blue water, Hamilton Island is up there with the best. The kids are looked after with the Clownfish Club located on the island so Mum and Dad can have a few hours (or a whole day!) to explore the island adult style. And if you’re like me and already planning baby’s first holiday, Hamilton Island has to be on the list of contenders with facilities covered including baby minding and even a 24hr on call doctor if the worst should happen. There is plenty of accommodation choices as well with the hardest decision being do you go palm bungalow or the reef view?

A family holiday to the Great Barrier Reef isn’t complete until you make a trip to Daydream Island. If you’re looking for convenient access to the reef, then this is the spot. There is a fringing reef practically a stones throw away with a living reef on the island itself! One of the more family friendly resorts in the reef, Daydreams’ kids club caters for kids from 0 – 12 years old. Accommodation does not disappoint either with stunning rooms that also cater for families with multiple rooms and sleeping options. Daydream Island is perfect for water sports and beach lovers young and old.

I’d love to say I’ve saved the best for last. But in all honesty, it’s hard to pick the best when you’re so spoilt for choice. In saying that, the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort has to go close. Located in the absolutely gorgeous Port Douglas along the famous Four Mile Beach is the Sheraton Grand Mirage. Surrounded by 147 hectares of lush tropical gardens and has 2 hectares of lagoon style pools! Can you even imagine! Oh, and you can even get a lagoon edge suite just to make sure you are close enough to the pool! If you’re looking for a luxurious family friendly holiday that caters for the kids, then I’d recommend this one.

It’s my dream to visit Australia. I’m terrified of drying by scary animals, insects, and reptiles – but I think it would still be worth it 😉
