Top 6 Family Friendly Holiday Accommodation in Northern NSW

The East Coast of New South Wales Australia has some of the most amazing holiday destinations. A nice blend of rural meets city with bush land and beaches as far as the eye can see and bustling cities and towns scattered throughout. As a local Byron resident, we love it here and feel every day is a holiday (well almost!).

So for our first must visit family friendly holiday accommodation in Northern NSW, I’m keeping it local. A word of warning, Northern NSW is gorgeous, so gorgeous you may just end up staying… just like we did.

BYRON OASIS – BYRON BAY

If you haven’t been to Byron Bay yet, I recommend you put it on your bucket list. Beautiful beaches, vibrant social scene and the gorgeous Byron Oasis to stay in, what more could you want. Byron Oasis is literally home away from home with apartments and tree top villas all fully self contained (including full kitchen, washer and dryer!). Set amongst beautiful bush settings, this is a great choice to stay for your next family holiday to Byron Bay. Whilst you may think we wouldn’t have a need to stay somewhere so close to home, it’s still on the bucket list of places to visit. Because who doesn’t need a spa on a balcony in the tree tops!

DISCOVERY PARKS – BYRON BAY

If the holiday park is more your scene, then this is one of the best in the area. All the facilities you could need as a family holidaying along the northern coast with accommodation to suit the fussiest of ‘glampers‘ to the holiday makers who prefer to pitch a tent. The kids will love the water park and you’ll love being close to some of the most amazing beaches in Australia. With that said, Discovery Parks Byron Bay is our recommendation for a holiday park setting where you can conveniently park the caravan or camper van.

BLUE DOLPHIN HOLIDAY RESORT – YAMBA

A few hours down the road you will find a sweet little haven tucked away just off the Pacific Highway. Blue Dolphin Resort is located smack bang between Coffs Harbour and Byron Bay. Now, we can speak from experience on this one having spent a weekend here just over a year ago. To say we loved it was an understatement. I don’t know who loved it more, the kids or us. There is plenty for the kids (and adults) to do with water parks, waterslides, go karts, games room and did I mention there’s a swim up bar! There is plenty of variety in accommodation to suit all budgets and preferences. We went with the villa because we love the home away from home feel. You can read our full review here.

NORTH STAR HOLIDAY RESORT – HASTINGS POINT

Hastings Point is just a little way up the road from Byron and another stunning place to visit. If you want to be just out of the hustle and bustle of Byron, then North Star Holiday Resort is the place. It ticks all the family friendly boxes with a water park, kids club and outdoor playgrounds as well as accommodation to suit all budgets and preferences. Can I tempt anyone to a Tuscany Villa? Being a Big 4 Holiday Park, you know it will meet all your needs giving you a relaxing family holiday destination.

PEPPERS SALT RESORT & SPA – KINGSCLIFF

If it’s luxury you’re after then you are going to be hard pushed to find better than Peppers Salt Resort and Spa. It’s located just 40 minutes north of Byron Bay  and about 25 minutes south of the Gold Coast Airport. From 5 star rooms to relaxing spa treatments and a restaurant to die for, this place is certainly on the bucket list! And if you hate going to resorts and sharing a pool, book the 2 Bedroom Spa Plunge Suite and you won’t have to. It comes with access to it’s own unheated plunge pool! Oh, and I almost forgot, think you can’t do luxury with kids? Think again as Salt’s has you covered there as well with a kids club! All sorts of winning right here!

BIG 4 TWEED BILLABONG HOLIDAY PARK

Our last feature family friendly accommodation along the NSW coast is the Big 4 Tweed Billabong Holiday Park. Treat the kids to a park full of water slides, resort style pools and even a billabong for water sports. Priding itself in being “super family friendly”, this holiday park is one to put on your list. And you know the kids will love it which, as a Mum, I know makes it so much more appealing!

Stay tuned for our next family friendly accommodation installment where we take you across the boarder into sunny Queensland.

Swoon! These all sound wonderful and just look at those beaches! We’ve never been, but I already want to live there just from reading your post. It seems like such a different lifestyle from what we have here in London. Thanks for joining us for the #DreamTeam xx
