I thought it was only fitting I share with you the Top 14 things I pack in my hand luggage when I have my kiddlets in tow. I hope it helps you with any up and coming trips.

80’s Family Movies You Must Relive With Your Kids
I’m going to put it out there and say one of the best things about having kids is reliving some of the best parts of your childhood. When I was a kid movie nights were up there as a favourite family activity to do together. Going to the video shop, borrowing a bunch of movies, grabbing a bag of coloured popcorn for my mum and brother and the caramel popcorn for my dad and I. Sometimes they would surprise us with a block of Cadbury chocolate as well. It was awesome. Continue reading
Through the eyes of a child
There are days that seem to be never ending. Days where I feel like a complete failure. Days that seem like groundhog day and days I wish would be ground hog day just so I could correct all the errors I made. Then there are days that click, days that work seamlessly. And, if I am lucky, they have special moments in them that bring so much joy that my heart feels like its going to explode. I was so blessed to have a few days recently that had so many of those joyful moments. And the best part, they all came so unexpectedly. It made me remember why mother daughter relationships are important and how tightly I need to hold onto these moments.

The art of cooking with kids
The saying goes “Children are great imitators so give them something great to imitate”.
For as long as I can remember I have always cooked with the kids. From the time Miss M was old enough to sit upright on her own she would be in her bumbo sitting with me as I cooked up a storm. So it’s no surprise that the kids are now avid chefs.

Mummy, I need you too
I love girl weekends away. Not just the ones you have with your girlfriends (although that is also very therapeutic). I am talking about with your little girl. The treasured mummy and daughter time. Sometimes we need to take some time out together for some real quality time. One on one trips to the shops, a walk down to the beach or bedtime cuddles are all wonderful. But sometimes, we need those spontaneous getaways to regroup and really nurture our relationship. Continue reading
Family-versary at Blue Dolphin Resort
Recently Hubby and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary in a very unorthodox way. We decided to go on a family-versary. Yes, you read right. A family-versary (a family wedding anniversary), somewhat similar to the familymoon (family honeymoon) we had last year. Don’t get me wrong Hubby and I would love to have and will hopefully one day have a real honeymoon or wedding anniversary with just the two of us, but with a lack of support around and young kids it makes the whole thing a bit tricky so for now instead of fretting about not celebrating the way everyone else does we just improvise and make different kinds of memories.
So for this family getaway I went to Hubby’s bucket list and picked Yamba. It’s only 1.5hrs drive from the beautiful Byron Bay or 2hr from the Gold Coast. Continue reading
